The Romance of Jewelry
Celebrate the art of romance—and shop for Valentine’s Day gifts—with goldsmith Donna Distefano at The Met Store. On February 2, Distefano will be on hand to discuss her Met-exclusive collection, and offer reflections on jewelry as a symbol of love and betrothal.
Inspired by medieval art and literature, Renaissance paintings, and ancient techniques, Distefano handcrafts exquisite pieces in her New York City atelier. Her deep relationship with The Met began early in her career, when, as a senior craftsman on staff, she created reproductions of jewelry pieces in The Met collection. Today, artworks on view at The Met continue to inspire her.
At our event at The Met Store Mezzanine Gallery, you’ll sip cocktails while shopping rings and necklaces you’ll find only at The Met Store, as well as one-of-a-kind pieces. You can meet the artist herself—who just might help you select the perfect, exceptionally crafted piece for your loved one this Valentine’s Day.
